I am purchasing a 8 acre piece of property, very grassy, some gentles slopes but relatively flat. Driveway is about 1/4 mile long. Is the 2210 a sufficient sized tractor to maintain this property? Make any suggestions for mowers, snow blades, manure spreaders..I will be converting this to a horse prop. so I will also be lugging around hay, manure, wood...possibly constructing some fencing (posts) on my own...Much appreciated.......

From what you have described you want to do, I think you would be disappointed with a sub-compact. You probably would want to look at the 4200 series Deere, or the larger B or smaller L-series Kubota. The sub-compacts will be limited for many of the tasks you described. ....

I will have to agree with Beagle on this one. I own a BX2230 which is basically the same as a JD 2210 and would have to say that if I were to try any "farm" type work the size of the sub-CUT would be the limiting factor. They will have plenty of power, but the physical size limitations will be the problem. Go for the next larger chassis size and you will be more satisfied. ....

I would look at something a bit bigger starting at the size of the JD 790. I dont think you would be happy with the JD2210...
....

I would have to agree with the guys here. A 2210 would be to small for your farm to be. I own a JD4200 and it does all my house chores. I put a cab on it for the winter months and it has a 59" snowblower. I have a 60" MMM for it as well. I have other various 3 pt. hitch attachments for it also and the tractor handles it with ease. I wouldn't go any smaller than a 4200 though. It great on fuel also, so it's definately fuel efficient. I hope this helps you out in your search for tractor. Good luck. ....

Do some research. Find the weight of a loaded manure spreader and the weight of a hay bale and base your tractor selection on those numbers.
You can buy a small manure spreader but you may only be able to get large bales of hay in your locale. The tractor should outweigh the hay bale you are going to haul by a significant margin ....

I did the same thing with my place, made it into a horse farm on 5 acres. I bought a B2410, and it does the job nicely, though for round bales, it is a bit on the low side since my farmer neighbor tends to pack the bales really tight and they are ratnher heavy, so mine cant pick them up on either the front or back lift, they weigh in at ~1100#. So far that is the ONLY limitation I have found with mine, it handles every chore I toss at it, 6' finish mower, 5' tiller, 6' grader blade, 6' landscape rake, and a 5' box scraper. Traction is the limiting factor I found with the blades, other than that, it will pull that 6' finish mower through grass as tall as the front tires without too much problem. ....
